A Light Weight Asymmetrical Crochet Scarf

This scarf is made with the infamous Caron Cakes yarn.  The yarn is such a dream!  It is so light and airy that I wanted to make a nice light and airy scarf to complement it!  This scarf works up as a big asymmetrical triangle which reduces bulk around the neck while also giving a chic and stylish look while wearing it.  The color blocks naturally created with this yarn look lovely when wrapped up as well.

Make the Open Air Market Scarf with One Skein

If you are like me, you may have caught the Caron Cakes yarn hype before you really thought about what you would make with it (this happens to me more often than I would like to admit).  Now I have several colors but just one skein of each AND they are mostly sold out in my local store.  Never fear though!  This project required less than one skein, with enough left over for another small project 🙂

Instructions

Ch 71

Row 1: Start in third ch from the hook and HDC across (69)

Row 2: Ch 2, HDC across (69)

Row 3: Ch 4 (this counts as your first DC st), skip 2 sts, DC, *Ch 1, skip a st, DC, repeat from * across (34 ch spaces)

Row 4: Ch 2, HDC2Tog, HDC across (68)

Row 5: Ch 2, HDC across until you reach the last two stitches, HDC2TOG in the last two stitches (67)

Row 6: Repeat row 3 (33 ch spaces)

Row 7: Ch 2, HDC across until you reach the last two stitches, HDC2TOG in the last two stitches (66)

Row 8: Ch 2, HDC2TOG, HDC across (65)

Row 9-104: Continue repeating rows 3-8, while continuing to decrease your stitch count on the same side of the piece in the HDC rows.  Your number of ch spaces will decrease by one in each DC row.  Ultimately this will form a large asymmetrical triangle.  When you reach row 104, tie off yarn and weave in ends.
