Make the Crochet Frosted Berry Infinity Scarf with Caron Cakes Yarn
Part of transitioning seasons in the yarn and crochet world always seems to bring on an influx of yarn on clearance. This is both exciting, and a little sad, because you never know if they will bring the yarn back the next year, but hey....who doesn't love a good yarn deal!? I recently noticed that Caron Tea Cakes (along with the Big Cakes and Sprinkle Cakes) were on clearance at my local Michaels. So I snagged one skein of this Winterberry colorway to make this gorgeous one skein infinity scarf. Can't find this yarn where you are located anymore? Have no fear! Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick would also work up perfectly for this pattern!

The Frosted Berry Infinity Scarf is written with a simple stitch repeat. That means this project is super quick considering you are also working with a Category 6 Super Bulky yarn. And if infinity scarves aren't really your style, I have a tip in the pattern notes on how you can use this pattern for a regular scarf as well.

Frosted Berry Infinity Scarf - Free Crochet Pattern
Supplies:
- One skein of Caron Tea Cakes (‘Winterberry’ pictured) or approx. 204 yards of a comparable Category 6 ‘Super Bulky’ yarn.
- L/8.0mm crochet hook - I use Clover Amour
- Scissors - I always keep these travel scissors in my hook case
- Yarn needle
Abbreviations (written in U.S. terms):
- ch: chain
- st/sts: stitch/stitches
- DC: double crochet
Gauge
5 sts x 3 rows = 2” square in HDC
Finished Size:
- Length (before joining as an infinity scarf): approx. 70"
- Width: approx. 6"
Pattern Notes
- The ch 2 at the beginning of a row DOES count as a stitch.
- Since this stitch is a bit more open, you may find that you want to block it. However, my project pictured was not blocked.
- If you would like to make an open scarf instead, start with a few rows of HDC or DC before starting the stitches in the pattern below. Just make sure that you have 14 sts across before you start the instructions for Rows 2-72. Then add the same number of rows of HDC or DC on the end of the scarf as well.

Instructions
ch 16
Row 1: DC in the fourth ch from the hook (with the ch sts, this counts as your first two DC sts of the row), skip 3, (2 DC, ch 1, 2 DC) in the next st, skip 2, (2 DC, ch 1, 2DC) in the next st, skip 3, DC in the last two sts of the row (14). Turn.
Row 2-72: ch 2, DC in the next st, skip 2, (2 DC, ch 1, 2 DC) in the ch 1 space from the previous row, skip 4, (2 DC, ch 1, 2 DC) in the ch 1 space from the previous row, skip 2, DC in the last two sts of the row (14). Turn.
At the end of Row 72, tie off the yarn leaving a long (12”) tail. You may want to block your scarf at this point. Then, using a yarn needle, sew the end of Row 72 and the foundation chain together to create a continuous infinity scarf. Weave in all ends.
