Snow Drops Skinny Scarf - Free Crochet Pattern
- 1 skein of Caron Cakes 'Faerie Cake' yarn (or other worsted weight yarn of your choice)
- H/5.0mm crochet hook (I use Clover Amour)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors (I always keep these travel scissors in my hook case)
- Clover small pom pom maker 1 3/8"
- ch: chain
- sl st: slip stitch
- SC: single crochet
- HDC: half-double crochet
- LOH: loops on hook
First start stitch of a row: Ch 2, Insert hook into back loop of the second ch from the hook and pull up a loop (2 LOH), insert hook into front loop of the same ch stitch and pull up a loop (3 LOH), insert into the next 3 sts and pull up a loop through each one (6 LOH). YO and pull through all 6 loops, ch 1 to make the "eye" of the star.
Star stitch: Insert hook into the "eye" of the previous star and pull up a loop (2 LOH), insert hook into the last post of the previous star and pull up a loop (3 LOH), insert your hook into the last stitch of the previous star and pull up a loop (4 LOH), insert hook into the next 2 sts and pull up a loop in each one (6 LOH). YO and pull through all 6 loops, ch 1 to make the "eye of the star.
7 feet long, 5" wide
Chain stitches at the beginning of rows do not count as a stitch
You can easily adjust the width/length of this pattern. To adjust the width, your starting chain should be a multiple of 2. To adjust length, add or subtract rows (but always end with a SC row)
Row 1: starting in second ch from the hook, SC across (21) turn
Row 2: crochet your first star stitch, and continue to star stitch across (10 stars). HDC in last stitch and turn
Row 3: Ch 1, 2 SC in each "eye" of a star stitch plus one sc in the last stitch of the row (21) turn
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you reach your desired length. Use your pom pom maker to make 10 pom poms for "fringe" at the end of your scarf. Classic fringe or tassels would look great too 🙂
And done! Once you get the hang of the star stitch this pattern is a breeze!
