I love saving money, who doesn't?! But sometimes it is time consuming to figure out how to save money. So today I am compiling a post of my favorite tips and tricks for saving money on Amazon! These tips are general shopping tips that can be applied to saving on yarn, supplies or even regular everyday household items. I hope that you find it informative and helpful. I shop at Amazon often, and I am only going to show you shopping methods that I personally use!

Save Money on Amazon with a Prime Memebership
Prime Membership is, in my opinion, where you need to start if you seriously want to save money on Amazon. Having Amazon Prime allows you to ship thousands of items to your home with free 2-day shipping. If a product has the "Prime" logo after the price-you know this item will qualify for that free shipping. Otherwise, standard shipping on Amazon is free at the $35 threshold.

Amazon prices fluctuate, and it always pays to take a look there if you are looking for a good yarn deal. A lot of times, their yarn prices seem to coincide with the sale prices at Joann or Michaels. And every once in a while you can score an awesome deal! I try to post these whenever I find them, so make sure to follow my blog or follow me on Facebook so you have the chance to catch them too!
No-Rush Shipping Can Earn You Credits
If you opt for No-Rush Shipping (as a Prime Memeber) you can usually receive some kind of incentive. Often this incentive is for a $1 credit toward a digital book or video purchase. Sometimes is is valid for a $5.99 Prime Pantry Credit. Either way-sweet! You get a little bit of money to spend elsewhere if you can be patient for your yarn to arrive 🙂

So as an extra tip regarding the No-Rush Shipping: This credit can be applied to each order. So, for example, if I wanted to order more than one Prime eligible item, I could order each item individually and receive that $1 credit for each order.
Not sure what you would use digital credits for? They have crochet books! These can be accessed via a Kindle or Kindle app on any phone or tablet.

Step Three: Amazon Credit Cards
I know that some people are adament against using credit cards, and if that is you then you can just disregard this step. I fall into the camp of "I enjoy using credit cards for the perks they offer, and I pay them off every month to avoid paying interest". I know that this doesn't work for everyone, but if it works for you-having an Amazon credit card is a great way to save additional money! There are two different cards they offer:
- Amazon Prime Card: Must be a Prime Member, get 5% cash back as a statement credit on all eligible purchases
- Amazon.com Visa (this is what I personally have): Can be used at any retailer. 3% back on Amazon purchases, 2% back on Gas, Restaurants, and Drugstores, 1% cash back on all other purchases.
These three steps are my quick tricks for saving on Amazon when buying yarn. I will continue below with a few more general suggestions. These don't specifically relate to shopping for yarn, but I want to include them for anyone considering becoming an Amazon junky like myself:
- Take advantage of Subscribe and Save! I avoided this for a long time because I found it intimidating and thought there must be a catch. But it is super easy! You can receive up to 15% off your subscription to a product AND you can cancel items very easily at any time (no phone calls, just the click of a button). There are also coupons that can be applied to many Subscribe and Save items on top of the subscription savings.
- And speaking of coupons, Amazon offers a lot of coupons each month! Check them out HERE
- Prime Pantry will sometimes have items for an unbelievably low price! Recently I have bought Maybaline blush for $0.54, big boxes of Corn Flakes for $0.98, Aussie Conditioner for $1.20, and many more great deals! It is especially great to check out Prime Pantry when you have the $5.99 no-rush shipping credits you earned from earlier purchases. I could write a whole tutorial on shopping in Prime Pantry, but since this is a yarn blog...I will stop there. If you need any help, feel free to contact me!
So there you have it! I hope I was able to help you learn a little more about shopping on Amazon! If you have any tips or tricks you'd like to share, I would love to hear about them!
