This pattern is an easy half double crochet beanie and is perfect for beginners. Worked in rows, this hat isn’t much different from making a scarf. The pattern is written in sizes for baby, toddler, child and adult; it is also easy to modify in size if needed. Whether you are a beginner or experienced crocheter, you will want to keep this free pattern in your library!

Half Double Crochet Beanie in 4 Sizes
Whether Christmas is coming, you are going to a baby shower, you crochet for the homeless/donations, or you just need a few more hats for yourself - this is a pattern you will want to keep coming back to! It’s fast, easy, unisex and easily customized. It uses worsted weight yarn, and you can choose whether to add a pom pom or not. You can adjust the slouchiness by making your rows longer or adjust the size by adding more rows. This easy crochet hat pattern is basically the blank canvas of crochet projects. You can do whatever you want with it!

A Unisex Hat Pattern in Sizes Baby Through Adult
I am an avid trier of new yarns, and I knew this was the perfect project to give Lion Brand Cobblestone a try on. I am in LOVE with the speckled look the yarn creates and the colors it comes in is so pretty. I really had a hard time picking just a few colors (and honestly as I’m writing this I have another yarn order coming with more Cobblestone for another project - ha!).
For the adult sized hat, I used some special Malabrigo yarn I had in my stash. This hat pattern is perfect for using up a special skein of hand dyed yarn if you are like me and have a few sitting in your stash.

Make this Hat with Scrap Yarn or Stash Leftovers
And speaking of yarn from your stash, you most certainly don’t need to use Lion Brand Cobblestone or Malabrigo yarn to make your hat! Use any skein of worsted weight yarn from your stash. Or if you really want to get creative; use scrap yarn and make your hat striped. Just be sure to check your gauge and adjust the pattern if needed.
