Darn Good Yarn of the Month Review

A few weeks ago, I told you guys about the Darn Good Yarn of the Month subscription here, and Darn Good Yarn very kindly sent me the March box so that I can give you guys a peek at what you can get for just $10!

See that yarn up there?  That is 100g of the most vivid and luxurious 100% mulberry silk yarn that I have EVER seen.  EVER.

This box came with one hank of Darn Good Yarn's Recycled Silk Yarn "Lux Adventure" in Turquoise, a gorgeous pendent, AND a free cowl pattern perfect for your spring wardrobe.

So lets talk about the yarn first because that was my absolute favorite part of this little surprise in the mail 🙂  Like I mentioned above, the "Lux Adventure" yarn is 100% silk.  Have you ever worked with 100% silk yarn before?  If not, do yourself a favor and give it a try!  It is slippery soft while acheiving the lovely textured look you see above.  And the most fabulous part?  It does NOT tangle like other textured or fuzzy yarns.  I kid you not...I didn't have this yarn knot up once, even when I pulled out a few stitches.  But really-look at that texture!

This yarn sells for $14.99 if you buy it from the Darn Good Yarn website, but if you were a Darn Good Yarn of the Month subscriber you would receive this yarn, pendent AND pattern for less that the cost of the yarn alone ($10 + $4 shipping in U.S.).  The yarn is hand spun by woman's co-ops in rural India and is made from recycled sari silk.  That means that this yarn is eco-friendly and ethically produced!  To learn more about Darn Good Yarn, check out this video:

Now don't forget, in addition to the yarn I also received a beautiful pendent and a printed pattern!  I decided to attach the pendent to my cowl because I LOVE how it looks against the bright colors of the yarn, but you could also use an extra piece of yarn and make a simple necklace out of it too.

The pattern included with this box was well written and literally perfect for the amount of yarn that was sent!  It had a crochet AND knit pattern included so that no fiber artist is left out.  I will be adding this lovely piece to my spring wardrobe for an extra pop of color.
