Crochet nesting baskets to organize your desk with this free crochet pattern! Baskets of different shapes and sizes fit together as a single piece, or they can be taken apart to be used as different storage containers. Keep reading for the free crochet pattern.

These crochet Desktop Nesting Baskets are made with Red Heart Strata yarn, which is a bulky, jersey-knit tube yarn. It is very similar to Bernat Maker Home Dec, but it is acrylic instead of cotton. The bulky yarn makes these baskets work up quickly so they would make an awesome last minute housewarming or even baby nursery gift! Just pack them with a candle or some small baby essentials and they double as a gift basket as well.

I loved making these with a combination of two colors (and a bit of hemp) but they would also be just as fabulous in one solid color if you are really hustling to get a gift made quickly! Mine are on my desk now holding my hooks, scrap yarn and a few other goodies. What will you use these baskets for?

Nesting Baskets - Free Crochet Pattern
Supplies:
- Red Heart Strata (Bernat Home Dec would work well too!): I used one skein of 'Coral' and just over one skein of 'Aran'. So you would need two of the Aran.
- J/6.0 mm crochet hook (I use Clover Amour)
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors (I always keep these travel scissors in my hook case)
- Fingering Weight Hemp (optional)
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- sl st: slip stitch
- SC: single crochet
- WST: waistcoat single crochet. Worked like a regular SC, but rather than inserting your hook into the front and back loops of the next stitch, you insert it in the middle of the next stitch
- BLO: back loop only
Gauge
not particularly important
Finished Size:
Basket #1: approx. 2" tall x 7" wide
Basket #2: approx. 4" tall x 6" wide
Basket #3: approx. 5" tall x 5" wide
Pattern Notes
- Ch sts at the beginning of a row do not count as a stitch.
- The end of each round is attached to the first stitch of the round with a slip stitch
