The crochet Petals Mod Scarf is a softer, more delicate version of a triangle scarf. Adorn this scarf with a scalloped edge or tassels to suit your taste. Keep reading for the free crochet pattern.

As you can see from the photo above, this ombre yarn transitions seamlessly from a bold, vibrant coral color to a softer tint of the same hue. The yardage is generous (482 yards) and this 100% acrylic yarn will make durable and washable pieces. Red Heart Super Saver Ombre comes in 12 different colors so you can choose whether you want to make a bright and summery scarf or something a little more muted for the coming fall weather!

The Petals Mod Scarf is a slightly softer version of my other mod scarf patterns, with a rounded edge and fluttery border. I considered adding fringe along the border as well, but I decided to keep it as is. If you add it to yours be sure to show me pictures! You could also add pom poms to tassels like I have in the past to my other Mod Scarf patterns 🙂

- J/6.0mm crochet hook (I used Clover Amour)
- Scissors (I always keep these travel scissors in my hook case)
- Stitch marker (at least one)
- Yarn needle
Abbreviations (written in U.S. terms):
- st/sts: stitch/stitches
- sl st: slip stitch
- ch: chain
- HDC: half double crochet
- HDC2Tog: half double crochet two together
Gauge
11 sts x 9 rows = 4" square in HDC
Finished Size:
Length (approx.) = 14.5"
Width (approx.) = 64"
Pattern Notes
- ch sts at the beginning of rows do not count as a stitch
- I recommend using a stitch marker as you work to help with your row count. I used one stitch marker and moved it along the length of my piece as I worked, marking the rows that had no increases or decreases (i.e. every third row)

Row 128: ch 1, HDC2Tog, HDC (2). Do not tie off, continue to edging.
Edging:
I made a simple edging along the angled/curved edge of my scarf. To make this edging, ch 6 and attach with a sl st to the second row from where you last crocheted. Continue chaining 6 and attaching with a sl st every 2 rows along the edge until you reach the other side of the scarf. You may want to block your edging to make it the most defined.
