Bulky Yarn Beanies for the Family - Crochet Style!
In this endless winter my baby son has been outgrowing his hats almost as fast as I can crochet them for him! But the snow and cold has been unforgiving, and so one more time I needed to crochet him another hat for his growing melon. We’ve got big heads around here…it’s a struggle 😉 Fortunately for me, Michaels has started carrying Lion Brands new Color Made Easy yarn in store and I was able to snag some! This is THE PERFECT basic bulky weight acrylic yarn and it made crocheting these hats so fast and easy that I decided to make one for all of us. Keep reading for the beginner-friendly free crochet pattern available in sizes baby through adult.

An Easy HDC Beanie in Multiple Sizes
One of my most popular patterns on the blog, hands down, is my Double Crochet Hat in 10 Sizes. I’ve gotten a lot of requests for a HDC version of this pattern, and while I still might do that with regular worsted weight yarn too, this bulky pattern is a fabulous starting point! This pattern is written in sizes Baby, Toddler, Child Small, Child Large and Adult. The other good news is that it is so simple, easily adjustable and customizable!

Your New Favorite Bulky Yarn
This was my first time working with the new Lion Brand Yarn Color Made Easy yarn and it won’t be my last! For a couple reasons. First, and most importantly, the texture of this yarn is fabulous. I’ve never felt a bulky weight acrylic yarn with so much squish! We have been wearing these hats for a couple of weeks now and the yarn has been holding up really nicely also. Second, the selection of colors is great! I always appreciate when yarns have a nice variety of solids and neutrals to work with. And finally, I have tons of yarn left over after making these hats because the skein size is SUPER for the price. Depending on what size you are making you could get 2-4 hats out of a single skein of yarn. That’s a good deal!

Where to Buy Lion Brand Color Made Easy?
So where can you get this new yarn? Michaels has started carrying it in-store and online. I have heard that certain stores aren’t carrying it yet, so if your local Michaels doesn’t have it you can always order through Michaels online. There are 18 different colors available!
